What each one is known for

DueMate

Built by a window cleaner. The £9.99 Entry plan is the planner, client list, route optimisation, invoices and quotes, without texts or Direct Debit. The £24.99 Standard plan adds bulk SMS reminders, GoCardless Direct Debit and automatic payment chasing; customers who reply NO drop off the day's list. It's the cheapest way in if you only need the planner.

Squeegee

A long-running UK round app priced per user, with four plans from Core to Infinite. Its pricing page lists rounds on a map, a customer portal website, automatic and point-of-sale payments, SMS and email messaging, offline mode, multiple users and HMRC VAT returns, with features varying by plan. A good fit for teams that want everything in one system.

CleanerPlanner

Simple plans with a 30-day trial. Basic covers unlimited rounds and jobs; Pro adds SMS through TextLocal or Webex, GoCardless Direct Debit, Mailchimp email and Dropbox backup; Team includes five users who can be given work. Every plan has iOS and Android apps and imports from other software.

Round Monster

Plans for solo operators up to larger teams, with a customer portal, SMS notifications, a worker app, daily routes and job sheets, and a GoCardless integration. The Solo plan is one user; Teams and Monster add users, two-way messaging and VAT return estimates.

Knockround

One price for everything, with card payments at the centre. Every invoice has a Pay button: customers pay by Apple Pay, Google Pay or card from a WhatsApp link or by scanning the QR code on your phone at the door, and the money goes to your own Stripe account. Stripe's fee is 1.5% + 20p for a standard UK card and Knockround adds nothing on top. It also has bank statement matching for transfers, a price-rise tool and a report of what your round is worth a year. Messages go from your own number, one tap each, and customers can reply "See you then" or "Skip this time". Direct Debit, automatic bulk texts and VAT invoicing aren't in it yet.

How to choose

  1. How do your customers pay? If most of the round is on Direct Debit, or you want to move it there, look at DueMate Standard, CleanerPlanner Pro, Squeegee or Round Monster. If you want card and Apple Pay on the doorstep or from a link, Knockround is built around that; Squeegee also lists point-of-sale payments. Cash and bank transfer work with all of them.
  2. Do you want texts sent in bulk? DueMate, CleanerPlanner, Squeegee and Round Monster send SMS on some or all plans. Knockround opens each message in your own WhatsApp or texts for you to send.
  3. How many of you are there? Per-user prices add up with a team. Compare the price for your whole crew, not one login.
  4. Do you need VAT or tax features? Squeegee lists HMRC VAT returns and Round Monster lists VAT return estimates. Knockround doesn't do VAT invoicing yet.
  5. How will you move the round? Ask how your customers, prices, intervals and unpaid balances come across. Knockround imports Excel or CSV files of up to 2,000 rows at a time, and we'll help with an export from another app for free.

Questions

What's the cheapest window cleaning software in the UK?

Of the apps above, DueMate's Entry plan at £9.99 a month was the lowest published price when we checked, without texts or Direct Debit. Knockround is £19.99 a month or £199 a year for everything, including card payments.

Is there free window cleaning software?

Each of these has a free trial rather than a free plan. A book or a spreadsheet costs nothing, and our guide to organising a window cleaning round has a free day-capacity planner you can use with either.

Can a window cleaner take card payments without a card reader?

Yes. With Knockround the customer pays on their own phone, from the invoice link or by scanning a QR code on yours. How card payments work.

Can I try Knockround with my own round?

Yes. The first 7 days are free with no card needed. Import your customers, run a few days alongside your book, and only add a card if you want to carry on.
